The Lu Mattson Scholarships

The Lu Mattson Scholarships for Hutchins School students honor Lu’s memory as scholar and teacher, scientist and humanist.  Lu Mattson was a founding member of the faculty of The Hutchins School of Liberal Studies at Sonoma State University, where she had a key role in designing the highly regarded interdisciplinary curriculum of the school. As a scholar and teacher who returned to academic life early in her scientific career, and who greatly valued the chance she had to conduct research in Europe, Lu was always ready to encourage returning students and those hoping to study abroad.

The Lu Mattson Re-Entry Scholarships assist returning students whose academic careers have been interrupted.
The Lu Mattson Study Abroad Scholarships provide additional support to students seeking to study abroad.
